hourMilk tea is a refreshing and slightly sweet beverage originating in Taiwan. It is perfect as a break from coffee or for afternoon enjoyment.
Ingredients
3c water, boiled
3 tea bags, (Early Grey black or Oolong work best))
1/2c milk, divided
3 1/2 tbsp sugar
Directions
- Boil 3 cups of water. Steep three tea bags until very strongly brewed (approximately 1 hour). Add 3 1/2 tbsp sugar to the hot tea and stir until dissolved. Fully cool the tea. Brewing the tea the night before is also a good option.
- When ready to enjoy a glass of milk tea, add ice and pour16 oz of cooled tea into a glass. Stir in 1/2 c of milk. For thicker consistency, use whole milk or half and half. We use 2% because we prefer a slightly lighter beverage. Add a wide straw and enjoy!
Notes
- Boba (chewy tapioca pearls) can be added, if they’re a favorite of yours. Boba can be found on Amazon or at Asian grocery stores and cooked quickly per the instructions on the package.
