There is an innocently cheerful side of Easter that brings smiles to the faces of both littles & grown ups, alike. Don’t you enjoy the pastel colors? How about dying stinky eggs that end up as egg salad because no one wants to eat them? Wait, it’s the egg hunt where you hide them, forget to take a master count and will find it next year when you’re going through the traditional process all over again. Am I getting close? As much as we do complain, we also love it. This week will feature a few fun ideas for you to try. Today’s feature is bunny pancakes.

PANCAKES

These cute cotton tail creations are just the thing to bring fun to the holiday. Imagine the bunny looking away from you with his fluffy tail and round bum wiggling at you. That’s look were aiming to create.

What You’ll Need:

  • Pancake mix
  • Small condiment squeeze bottle
  • Redi-whip
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Banana slices

Preparing Pancakes – to get yourself started, prepare one batch of pancake mix per box directions.

Making Bunny Parts by filling one small condiment squeeze bottle with mix. If the bottle is brand new, cut the tip so that the opening is small but wide enough to allow the batter to come out with a controlled squeeze. You don’t want it oozing out of the bottle wildly, when turned upside down.

The Ears – create your bunny ears by drawing and outline, similar to a long leaf-like shape. Fill it in until you can no longer see any of the pan. Flip the ears when bubbles begin to form and pop. Make as many bunny ears as you’ll need for the quantity of bunnies you want to create.

The Feet should be a plump oval shape that is wider on one end (this will be the toe area of the foot). Draw, fill in, and cook them using the same process that was utilized for the ears.

The Body & Head will be your next creation. Pour batter from a measuring cup or use the condiment bottle. You will want two traditional circles, one slightly smaller in diameter than the other. The smaller one will be your head.

Assemble your bunny pancakes on a plate using all of your freshly cooked pieces and two slices of banana (for the paws).

Finally, draw toes on the bunny’s feet by making three tiny chocolate dollops and shaping them into ovals with a toothpick. Finish with redi-whip onto the backside of the larger pancake. This will become a cute little tail.

Happy creating!
